Auckland is a gateway for taking short ferries to quaint and beautiful islands. So pack a pair of sunnies and shimmy onto the top deck for a boat ride with a view. You and your date will be stunned by the lush nature and rare wildlife. Head over to Rangitoto if you're up for a bit of a hike or relax on Waiheke with a good Pinot Gris. And if you are looking to go slightly further afield, Great Barrier Island is a gem in the ocean.
